The European Commission is organising its third Eurobarometer Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 28 and 29 September 2009. For 36 years, the Eurobarometer has proved to be a unique tool for understanding European public opinion through continuous tracking of what European citizens think and want to know about Europe. This new edition of the conference on understanding European public opinion will pay special attention to exploring the results of a special Eurobarometer survey on the future of Europe.

Specific challenges to be discussed include:

Understanding European Public Opinion will bring together stakeholders involved in public opinion research to discuss how to adapt to the new challenges Europe is facing. The Conference is organised jointly with the University of Gothenburg and in association with the Swedish Presidency of the EU.

There will be keynote speeches from academics, policymakers and the world of public opinion surveying, as well as sessions where you can get to grips in more detail with the new challenges. So I can promise you a stimulating event.
